In 2013, a funky little studio named StoryTK opened its doors – “Story” for the engaging stories the team sought to tell, and “TK” for the editing mark that signals “to come.”

Our mission at StoryTK was simple: bring the best practices of editorial journalism and design to businesses dedicated to doing complicated, interesting, and important work.

Today, that mission remains as true as ever, but starting in 2024 StoryTK has a new name and is leaning into the needs of a more visual, technical, and hyperkinetic world. We call it Optics Lab: “Optics” for the visual craft we bring to all our work, and “Lab” for the investigative, collaborative, and exploratory way we partner with clients. Our focus is on conveying stories and crafting experiences through a design-centric lens.

Optics Lab is different from a typical agency or design studio, we bring years of research and expertise in science, engineering, and technology, which enables us to explain complex subject matter through concise, explanatory visuals and communications.

We are known for partnering with clients across industries, divisions, and disciplines, and engaging with stakeholders from PhDs to SVPs to CEOs. All this combines to create our primary superpower of getting to great outcomes quickly and always with the goal of driving business value.
